Time flies!
And myBatik magazine is now a year old. 2009 is here and this year, I received mixed feedback about the 365 days ahead. Some of us look forward to yet another year where we can stretch our limps and brains to create more magical moments. Some on the other hand, have been largely affected by the negative talks about the coming recession, retrenchments, the depressing business climates and so on.
The year 2009 means a brand new year, a brand new planning, and a brand new challenge as well. A little bit of updates. myBatik is now an Associate Member of Malaysian Retailers Chains Association (MRCA) and I am happy to take the challenge from MRCA to be the Organizing Chairman for MRCA 17th Anniversary Celebration in November 2009, where there will be more than 2000 business guests dining together. We will soon be introducing myBatik membership card, which allows batik lovers to shop for discounted batik items in town. We are in the midst of processing and trying to get more merchants to join in to provide more benefits to the card holders. The exorbitant price of hand drawn batik might be the reason why people cannot wear batik daily. You now have a chance to purchase quality batik items at affordable prices. All you have to do is be a friend of myBatik, and get the membership card for free.
Meanwhile, also watch out for MY BATIK RED CARPET 2009, where there will be plenty of surprises in store for you. It is poised to be a huge event, with a batik fashion gala night, for all batik lovers, manufacturers, local and overseas buyers. We will be revealing more details in the next issue.
